Autism strikes, according to recent enquiries, a person out of a thousand and two persons out of a thousand present some symptoms that make them eligible to be included within the autistic range.

Autism is scientifically considered a development’s pervading disease that manifests itself by the 3rd year of age with a deficit in the communication area, social interaction and imagination.

The most evident characteristic is isolation: autistic children often don’t respond to their name being called, avoid sight and appear unaware of other’s sentiments and of the reality that surrounds them.

Autistic children often give dysfunctional replies to sounds, touch, or other sensorial stimulus, a reduced pain sensibility, that can contribute to determinate behavioral symptoms, like the resistance to hugs.

To this day, there is no cure for autism: the therapies or the interventions are chosen on an individual symptom basis. Therapies that are better developed include pharmacological and educative / behavior interventions in a structured environment that is adapted to the specifics of autism.

Although these interventions are not resolving, they often bring a significant improvement.

Spazio Autismo is a no-profit association located in the province of Bergamo, Italy that helps autistic children to improve their own skills and social life with the following activities:

Basic modules: qualifying \ educative interventions that allow and enhance an increase in communication related behaviors, social interaction and learning of minors that attend the school and the free time structures

Do with me: action proposal in free time to be done with coetaneous volunteer students

Autonomy: project aimed at the development of self and environment management

Pony Help: engagement in socially functional activities for the Community (elderly, infant school etc.)

Packaging: continuing lab of working activities based on external orders; autonomous life in the “House” in a frame of progressive separation from the family context

Job start up: school orientation course to professional formation to job start up

Summer Space: educative and recreational activities project and socialization on the territory during the summer vacation

One more note: musical formation project to favor the construction of a symphonic orchestra

Sport: project aimed at the development of recreational \ sport activities with the support of the Territory Associations

Sea space: stay in a maritime location
